Note to Family

I am starting a Family History Blog for the Robinson and the Larsen Families. I am going to be adding family stories and pictures of our ancestors. You may want to use it if you need a story of an ancestor or if your kids are giving talks in church and want a story to tell.

Hopefully, more than just having stories to tell in church, it will be a resource for you to teach your children of their heritage. All of our ancestors were early converts to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I don't know how many people have such a rich background but we have been truly blessed. Most of these people sacrificed greatly so that we could have the gospel in our lives. What a blessing it is for our children to be able to hear these stories and realize that they are part of a great work and that they are not alone in their trials and persecutions as they stand up for what is right.

I believe these ancestors are of greater influence in our lives than we can even imagine. It would be a shame not to know who they are.

Pres. Holland gave a talk on angels in October 2008 conference. I loved these quotes from this talk:

"From the beginning down through the dispensations, God has used angels as His emissaries in conveying love and concern for His children. Time in this setting does not allow even a cursory examination of the scriptures or our own latter-day history, which are so filled with accounts of angels ministering to those on earth, but it is rich doctrine and rich history indeed.

Usually such beings are not seen. Sometimes they are. But seen or unseen they are always near. Sometimes their assignments are very grand and have significance for the whole world. Sometimes the messages are more private. Occasionally the angelic purpose is to warn. But most often it is to comfort, to provide some form of merciful attention, guidance in difficult times........

My beloved brothers and sisters, I testify of angels, both the heavenly and the mortal kind. In doing so I am testifying that God never leaves us alone, never leaves us unaided in the challenges that we face. “[N]or will he, so long as time shall last, or the earth shall stand, or there shall be one man [or woman or child] upon the face thereof to be saved.”13 On occasions, global or personal, we may feel we are distanced from God, shut out from heaven, lost, alone in dark and dreary places. Often enough that distress can be of our own making, but even then the Father of us all is watching and assisting. And always there are those angels who come and go all around us, seen and unseen, known and unknown, mortal and immortal."

I believe that our ancestors have great interest in what we are doing and especially what is happening here in the latter-days as we prepare for the second coming of Christ. I hope you will all take time to learn about them. It will strengthen your testimony and build the faith of your children.

Grandma Again!!!

Jocelyn Mae Jenks was born April 2nd. She wighed 7 lbs. 8 oz. What a blessing and a joy!!!

Luke says.....

Christmas Eve Luke was going to sleep and he was tossing and turning so Daniel said, "Luke are you ok? Do you need something?" and Luke said, "Shhhhhhhhh!! That's not fair, you're ruining my chances with Santa." Daniel was sure to be very quiet the rest of the night.

Yesterday Luke asked me, "Was I in your tummy or Dad's tummy?" I told him that he was in my tummy and he pumped his hand in the air and said, "YES !!!"

Halloween

When we went Trick -or -Treating, Luke took the bag he had at school and it was already fairly full of candy. We stopped at a friends house and the man answered the door then Luke did a surprising thing. He reached in his bag and handed the man some of his candy. The man at the door was Ray Ledesma, we baptized him a few years ago. He was so touched by Luke's generosity.

I helped at Luke's school Halloween Party and went on the costume parade around the school. I was the last in line so we wouldn't lose any kids. When I would come into the room kids would start yelling, "Hey, Thing One, Thing One!" and they would wave at me. The funny thing was that it didn't just happen with the little kids. Even when we went in to the upper grades the kids would just have to get my attention by yelling "Thing One!" and waving at me. I really don't know why. Anyway after school Daniel had come to help me carry our giant Jack-o-Lantern home and I was telling him how funny it was that all the kids just HAD to wave at me. Just then a car drove by and a man (probably 30 or so) waved at me until I waved back. We laughed.


Mike was sore after hauling our pumpkins up from our garden. It really was a chore. Our biggest pumpkin weighed 78 pounds!

Tea Party

So, we decide that since Luke and Livie learned such bad manners at Nana's house (see earlier video) we would have a nice little tea party at Alison's house where they would show off their GOOD manners. How did they do??? Well, see for yourself.

Homecoming Prince

 

Daniel was elected Freshman Class Homecoming Prince. Each class elects a "Prince and Princess" and then the Senior class elects the Homecoming King and Queen. It was a very nice honor for him. We walked out on the field with him at half time where he was given a sash and sceptor (Daniel kept calling it a wand) Olivia loved playing with the sceptor and she was so happy that her "Prince" had finally come!

Daniel caught a spectacular touchdown pass right before half time that was so fun because we were right by it waiting for the homecoming half time. Daniel is the only freshman on the Varsity Team. They pulled him up to Varsity just a few games into the season. He plays wide receiver and back up quarterback. He threw the first touchdown pass of the season a couple of weeks ago.

Luke says,

Luke said, "Natalie is a good eater! She eats everything.....except humans."

While watching Daniel's football game...."Does Jesus still love the boys on the other team?"

Luke and Olivia had fun in the garden. We aren't really sure how we are going to carry them up to the house (the pumpkins that is). We may have to carve them right where they are. Does anyone have a fork lift?

Most of you know that we went to the Miley Cyrus concert in Provo for the 4th of July. What most of you don't know is that Daniel got to meet her up close and personal when we went to New York City in August. Yes, yes it was very cool for Daniel. Actually very cool because wax is not very warm. This was taken at Madam Tussaud's wax museum. Gotcha!
